The short version
PaperPlane is a desktop application. Your mail is fetched from your provider by the app running on your own machine, and cached on that machine. We do not receive, store or process the contents of your mail.
What we do collect
If you subscribe, our payment provider Paddle collects the billing details necessary to take payment and to calculate tax, and passes us your email address and country so we can issue and support your licence. We keep your email address, licence status and support correspondence. That is all.
What we never collect
Mail contents, mail addresses of your correspondents, attachments, message counts, subject lines, or anything derived from them. None of these ever leave your machine, because there is no server of ours for them to reach.
What the app does send to our servers
The app contacts our server (paperplane.dhq-boiler.dev) for two errands only. The first is the update check: at startup and every 24 hours it asks whether a newer version exists. All that reaches us is the requesting IP address and the version the app names itself as. The second is the licence renewal, which it requests only while your subscription is within seven days of expiry. What reaches us there is the licence ID, the refresh token, and the licence currently held on your machine (which contains the email address it was issued to). Neither request carries anything about your mail.
This website
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. When the checkout is open, Paddle sets the cookies necessary to run the payment flow; see Paddle's own privacy notice for those.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the contact address below. We answer within 30 days.
